Turkey: A Land of Contrasts
Natural Wonders and Rich History
Turkey boasts a diverse landscape, from the snow-capped peaks of northeastern Anatolia to the sun-drenched beaches of the Mediterranean coast. Temperatures can range from 30 to 40 degrees Celsius in the summer, and snow can lie on the ground for up to 120 days of the year in some areas.
Turkey is also a country with a rich historical heritage, having been home to numerous civilizations throughout history. The modern Republic of Turkey was established in 1923 by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, after the fall of the Ottoman Empire.
Tourism and Economy
Turkey is a thriving emerging economy, and its gross domestic product ranks among the top 20 in the world. The country is also a popular tourist destination, attracting over 51 million foreign visitors in 2019. One of its most popular beaches is the 18km-long Patara Beach, which is backed by large sand dunes.
